A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe
Sun 6 July 2008
Celebrating 25 years of songwriting by the Olivier Award winning duo of musical theatre composer George Stiles and lyricist Anthony Drewe, A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe was a one night only charity gala performance in support of Mercury Musical Developments, a unique organisation nurturing new British musical theatre writing.
It starred Julie Atherton, Helena Blackman, Daniel Boys, Richard Dempsey, Gareth Gates, James Gillan, Alison Jiear, Leanne Jones, Shona Lindsay, Claire Moore, Lisa O’Hare, Joanna Riding, Clive Rowe, Caroline Sheen, Scarlett Strallen, Rebecca Thornhill and Oliver Tompsett alongside an ensemble of third year students from Arts Ed.
Flying at an exhilarating rate through a wealth of material, the show visited Peter Pan’s Neverland, the farmyard of Honk! and the fairytale jungle of Rudyard Kipling’s Just So. Add an excursion with the world’s most famous nanny Mary Poppins, an exclusive preview of their new show Soho Cinders and world premières of even more brand new material and A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe conjured up surprise and delight in equal measure. It also featured special guest appearances by Stiles and Drewe themselves.
