Following several sell-out seasons and an acclaimed tour of Australia, Trevor Ashley, one of the foremost musical theatre stars from Down Under, will make his West End debut as the irrepressible, incomparable and infamously iconic Liza Minnelli in LIZA (on an E), in a strictly limited six show season.six show season.
From her marriage to Australia's song-and-dance darling, Peter Allen, to her notorious pill-popping and ubiquitous showbiz family, ‘Liza’ will dish the dirt on her extraordinary life like you've never seen her before, accompanied by a live on stage band, as she raises the rafters and brings the entire house down with power-packed performances of all her greatest hits.
The critically acclaimed and (at least a little bit) controversial Liza (on an E) is an evening that will have you laughing, crying and screaming for more as the supremely talented Ashley channels Liza (and her alter egos), with guest appearances by her mother. Raucous, ruinous and just the right (or wrong) side of risqué, it’s a rollercoaster ride of riotous proportions.
Liza (on an E) will play in the West End for one week only and is sure to be the talk of the town. So, “come taste the wine, come hear the band…” and don't miss the opportunity to see an international hit show like no other. It’s a fond and loving tribute to a living legend.
Well known in his native Australia as a musical theatre star, Trevor Ashley created the role of Miss Understanding in the original Australian cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert – The Musical, racking up well over 600 performances in the part, following which he appeared in Gale Edwards’ hit production of Jerry Springer – The Opera at Sydney Opera House. He played the cross-dressing role of Edna Turnblad in the smash hit musical Hairspray in both Melbourne and Sydney, and played Franz Leibkind in the Australian production of The Producers in Melbourne.
Trevor’s work as a solo artist has taken him all over the world, with performances in New York, London, Asia and Australia, in shows as both himself and a dazzling array of characters. LIZA (on an E) has previously sold out two seasons in Sydney, and toured to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, receiving rave reviews. He also created a bespoke piece for Sydney Opera House entitled I’m Every Woman, in which he channeled twelve famous females in all their glory.
